Zomato bans analogue dairy dishes, known as synthetic or fake dishes

Food delivery platform Zomato has announced a zero-tolerance policy against the listing and sale of dishes prepared with analogue dairy products. The policy has come into force with immediate effect, and dishes declared by restaurant partners as containing dairy substitutes have already been removed from the platform. The company warned that any restaurant found violating these guidelines going forward risks being completely delisted from Zomato.

Under the new directive, Zomato has instructed its restaurant partners to immediately transition to natural dairy products or remove affected items from their menus. Restaurants must also review supplier ingredient labels and verify that all listed dishes accurately represent their true components. The company stated that this enforcement aligns with its broader commitment to customer health, ingredient transparency, and applicable regulatory standards.

Highlighting the decision, Zomato CEO Aditya Mangla emphasized that safeguarding customer health and maintaining clear quality standards remain central to the platform's mission of providing better food for more people. The company confirmed that it is implementing these measures in collaboration with compliant restaurant partners, though it did not disclose the total number of restaurants or dishes impacted by the initial delisting.
