Mamata says KMC took away 'brooms' from her house, calls it "extreme disrespect"

West Bengal Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has levelled sensational allegations against the authorities, claiming that the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has taken away brooms from her residence. Expressing her displeasure on social media, she stated that two municipal workers who had been sweeping her garden for nearly thirty years had their brooms confiscated. Terming the move a sign of extreme disrespect, she declared that she would clean her garden herself rather than accept tools provided by political adversaries.

In her statement, Banerjee asserted that she enjoys doing household chores and maintaining her garden, but criticized the authorities for lowering the level of political discourse. She firmly rejected any assistance from opposing political groups, stating that she refuses to tolerate political games entering her personal domestic routine and upkeep.

The incident comes alongside another major allegation made by the former Chief Minister regarding her personal finances. Banerjee claimed she has yet to receive the annual royalties for her published books, suspecting political interference behind the delay. Clarifying that she relies entirely on book royalties for her livelihood rather than drawing an official salary or pension, she alleged that publishers and stall organizers are withholding her legitimate earnings out of fear of the ruling political opposition.
